Loving what the Earth provides

Loving what the Earth provides

Have you ever jumped out of a deep sleep with a cramp in your foot or leg?

I used to get these a lot. Those days are gone now and there are no more nocturnal cramps.

I used to blame my car. I had a compact car that has almost no heat and my feet would get very cold and cramp. The only solution was to warm my feet which meant getting out of the car and getting indoors. I blamed the car. My next car was American made with great heat and the problem went away.

30 years later the foot and leg cramps came back. This time I asked my Doctor. He didn't know. I suggested that the concrete floors I worked on, standing for 10 to 11 hours a day as a possible cause. He said no, that's not it, but he seemed to lose interest. I read about nutritional factors, vitamins, minerals that may help, but no luck. There used to be a product that contained quinine, but that was removed from the shelves by government decree.

Have you ever jumped out of a deep sleep with a cramp in your foot or leg?

I used to get these a lot. I used to blame my car. I had a compact car that has almost no heat and my feet would get very cold and cramp. The only solution was to warm my feet which meant getting out of the car and getting indoors. I blamed the car. My next car was American made with great heat and the problem went away.

I asked my doctor about this, but he didn't offer a clue. I suppose he either didn't know or wasn't interested, but he had no solutions for me. For a time I used quinine, which until about 17 years back was an over-the-counter product. Quinine was also present in a nighttime cramp medicine called Legatine. A pharmacist told me the FDA had made it prescription only because people were treating themselves for malaria. Those days are gone now and there are no more nocturnal cramps.

Years later the foot and leg cramps came back. I asked my Doctor again. He didn't know. I suggested that the concrete floors I worked on, standing for 10 to 11 hours a day as a possible cause. He said no, that's not it, but he seemed to lose interest. I read about nutritional factors, vitamins, minerals that may help, but no luck. Some suggested calcium and others suggested magnesium. No help from those.

Just so you know, I eat organically, all from local farmers. I work on my feet at least half the day, and still on concrete floors. And, I still occasionally get those horrid foot cramps.

Over the last 8 years I've studied many forms of energy healing and two years ago Aromatherapy. Now those annoying cramps are banished thanks to a blend of oils that remedy the problem. The simple yet wonderful essential oils of Roman Chamomile, Lavender, Marjoram, Clove Bud, Ginger, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, and Ravensara, when blended together, make a great compound for leg and foot cramps. This combination did it for me. When I feel a cramp starting, I rub this blend on and in minutes the cramp is gone and back to a good night's sleep.

My studies in alternative therapies and energy healing have brought many things to light. There are many natural means though which we can heal and be well. We can supplement food with vitamins and enzymes, we can use essential oils to relieve everything from insect bites to burns, and yes, even cramps.

I love what the Earth provides, everything we need.
